Since I have arrived in Madrid, it has been an incredible experience from exploring the center to traveling to other cities. I have enjoyed every second of my stay here in Spain. I have always wanted to travel to the country of Spain and now that I am here it feels like a movie. To be immersed in the culture here is a different experience than to just visit. You experience the lifestyles and daily routines of individuals who live here, which forces you to step outside of your comfort zone and adapt to a new culture. It has been a learning experience so far, but I am adjusting well. Spain’s rich culture and history is displayed throughout the country, which makes it uniquely beautiful.

On my third day here, I went to the center to explore the beautiful city of Madrid. I couldn’t believe my eyes as I toured the city. From Plaza Mayor to Puerta del Sol to the Gran Via, Madrid has many beautiful places to see and visit with lots of things to do. I love to shop and Madrid offers several places to shop and explore. One night during the week, I went to the center of Madrid and saw a Flemenco show. It was a great show and I really enjoyed it. I have read about this type of dance, but to actually see it in action was amazing. The music, the dancing, the technique and the clothes made it a great show to see. There is also more to Madrid than the center; the suburbs around it have beautiful sights to see as well and gardens to stroll through. I have only been in Spain for a week and I have seen a lot, but I have so much more to venture off to in this large city of Madrid.

My first weekend here I took a trip to Toledo, Spain. We left Saturday morning and toured the city all day. As you drove into the city, you can begin to see the beautiful architecture of the buildings in Toledo. I began to get excited as we drove closer and closer. When we pulled into Toledo the site was completely breathtaking. I’ve seen these landmarks in pictures and in movies, but to actually see it in person is remarkable. I took pictures of everything. We explored all of the monuments and had access to the six most important monuments in the city. We were able to go to the top of them to get a glimpse of the city from above. It was great to see and learn the history and significance of each building and cathedral. We ate lunch in the center of Toledo and continued to tour the city afterwards. Before we left, we went to the top of a mountain located near a restaurant and watched the sunset from above the city. As the sun was setting, the city begun to light up and the lights from the cathedrals were stunning. It was such a beautiful sight to see and I am grateful to have experienced it. Toledo is such a beautiful city that it has made it to the top of my list of most beautiful cities in Spain.

I have definitely enjoyed my time here in Spain so far and it has only been a week. I have many more places to visit and things to see. I am excited to see the adventures that the rest of my trip will bring. I’m taking over España!!
